All throughout the holiday season, many of us have guests staying. Whether it is a few friends staying at yours after a night out or relatives who are home from overseas for Christmas, you might need some extra room over this time of the year. It is not uncommon to use guest rooms as a dumping ground for just about everything – from out of season clothes to bulky toys, to sports equipment. That can be embarrassing when guests arrive and have to climb over your treadmill or your child’s mini-slide to get to the bed.
If you’d like your spare room to be ready for guests, there is a simple solution. Temporary storage allows you to pack up some of those unused items and clothes into moving boxes or even wardrobe boxes and get them out of the house for as long as you need. You can include bulky items such as your bicycle, weight set or even furniture.
It’s less expensive than you might think. Storing a whole wardrobe box of out of season clothes and one cross trainer with Buska for a month can cost as little as €24.
Most of us have mixed feelings about house guests. We’re delighted to spend time with our loved ones, but having them in our homes 24/7 can be a little intense. Making your spare bedroom comfortable means they have a place to retreat, giving everyone a little break.
Clutter makes everyone more stressed, so this is a good time to start preparing that guest room. You might not have plans to invite anyone to stay with you, but life is full of surprises. Sometimes a shortage of taxis, especially bad roads or that glass of wine after dinner mean someone is stranded at your house. All of these situations are more common over the holidays.
It does not take long to fill up a couple of home moving boxes with clothes and other items you won’t miss in December and January (and, quite possibly, for a longer period of time!). Buska will come and collect them, so you don’t lose time sitting in traffic bringing them to our temporary storage unit. We do ask that everything being collected, including large, bulky items, be on the ground floor of your home when we arrive.
In addition to having the spare bedroom ready with a clear floor and some space in the wardrobe, hosting holiday guests is easier if you plan a couple of activities. Head out to a local Christmas fair together, or have everyone join in for a little festive baking or some board games. Keeping the in-laws occupied gives them less opportunity to find those areas of the house that you didn’t have a chance to clear out! And when it is all over, Buska will return your items in our home moving boxes from our temporary storage unit. Then you can decide if you’d like to put all those Christmas decorations in storage for the next 11 months.
